We got a respectable start this morning and were on the road around 10:00 am. We made it through the westbound traffic out of New Orleans. We crossed the Huey Long Bridge, which was a narrow two lane bridge when we crossed last year. It was under re-construction and is now a four lane mega-structure. It is finally done, just in time for the Super Bowl, and it wasn't the white knuckling experience of a year ago. Thank goodness!
We had a shorter drive today. It was just about four hours to Lake Charles, Louisiana. We are staying at Sam Houston Jones State Park. There are some nice hiking and biking trails here. I hope the weather warms up, but the sun is shining and how can you complain about that.
We are enjoying our bikes and Bill even bought me a basket and bell to use when passing walkers and other cyclists.
Spending a few more days with the Perzanowski's before heading out. They are going south to Corpus Christi and we are heading toward San Antonio.
We are all pooped today so decided to call it a night after dinner.
Hello again,
ReplyDeleteI am glad they got that pesky bridge finished in time for your trip so you could cross it in a relaxed fashion. Be glad you got sunshine. We had about an hour today and then overcast with flurries. No accumulation but very cold. Mid 20's during the day and worse at night of course. No real relief in sight.
I hope your trailer is towing better or at least no worse than before. Did you end up buying a new one or just replace the piece that fell off.
I just got off the phone with Sue. All is OK there, except.......she was just finishing changing Becket when I called and she thinks she pulled a calf muscle while hurrying to get to the phone.
I had been checking with the hotel to arrange for a room. I wanted to check with her to make sure she had not also been looking before I reserved one. I thought you said you may have asked her to. Any way she hadn't. I told her what I found at the Raddison and she said she wanted to check her site before I made one. She called back and was able to save $4.00. Breakfast was an add on for her and my rate and we decided not to get it. It includes a round trip shuttle for two. An extra trip is only $8.00 which I think is a good deal.
Don't forget to get a copy of Bill's passport when you get settled in San Antonio. Still no word on mine or yours. There is still plenty of time however.
I think that is about all for now.
Safe travels,
God bless America,
NADodt
Morning,
ReplyDeleteHappy ground hog day. I guess he did not see his shadow so we should expect an early spring. You would not know by looking outside. That light dusting is approaching an inch and very cold.
Just a quick note to let you know that my passport arrived today. I would guess that yours should be getting here in the next week or so.
Have a very pleasant day.
God bless America,
