After moving the trailer we planned our attack for the next few days.
There was this stretch of the road that is called Grapevine Hills. From a distance they look like grapes in a row.
We passed thru this tunnel to get to the southeast corner of the park and gave us our first view of the Rio Grande River
The band of green foliage was the giveaway that water was nearby.
Away from the water, dry and rocky.
As the sun moves across the terrain the colors change and different layers appear.
Keep your eye on the road!
Seriously our campground was just like spots in a parking lot. We didn't really mind though, we didn't spend much time there.
These little Javelinas were checking out the picnic area for goodies.
It was a family affair.
The Roadrunner just loves to be by the river.
There are warnings about other wildlife in the area. The Mexican Black Bear had become absent in the park but over recent years the bears have crossed back from Mexico into the park and their population is increasing. Campers are advised not to leave coolers and food or garbage out at night which would bring animals into the campgrounds. Bear proof containers are provided.
This is a tent area in our campground. Nice huh!
Guess I will put this down for now. Tomorrow we are going to go the Boquillas Canyon.
The movie quote came from It's a Wonderful Life starring Jimmy Stewart.
